Five Questions to Ask Before You Remodel
July 2, 2026 · 4 min read

Remodeling should feel exciting, not overwhelming. Most of the stress comes from decisions made too late in the process. These questions front-load the thinking.
1. What isn’t working today?
Be specific. “The kitchen feels cramped” becomes actionable when it turns into “two people can’t pass between the island and the range.”
2. How long will you be in this home?
A five-year plan and a forever home call for very different investments.
3. What are you keeping?
Honoring what already works keeps budget available for what doesn’t.
4. Who’s making the final call?
Projects move fastest when one person is empowered to decide.
5. What’s the real budget?
A number shared early is a design tool. A number shared late is a constraint.
