Hi there!
I’m Amanda Sparks, a Texas-based interior designer specializing in new construction, remodels, additions, and furnishing and decorating projects.
I pride myself on really getting to know my clients—listening to their needs, wants, and desires and tailoring each project specifically to them. My goal is to create beautiful spaces that are not only aesthetically pleasing, but also maximize function and flow while reflecting the uniqueness of the people who live there.
I believe a home should feel like it’s yours. When I’m finished with your space, it should wow you, but it should also feel familiar.
Early in the design process, I take my clients through a questionnaire, we look through inspiration photos of things that really catch their eye, and most of all—I listen. I want to have a well-rounded understanding of what my clients are hoping to achieve before we ever begin making selections.
I also love mixing the old with the new. Whether it’s preserving special details or repurposing something during a remodel, or incorporating pieces my clients already own into a new construction or furnishing project, I believe those are the things that help a space tell a story and truly feel like home.
My story
So, how did I end up here?
It was actually quite the journey.
I took interior design classes and completed an internship with a real estate agent in high school. I knew I loved houses and design—but I was also a health science nerd!
During my first year of college, I still wasn’t 100% sure what I wanted to do. Eventually, I decided to pursue an applied science degree in dental hygiene. At the time, it seemed like the more secure and less financially risky path, so that’s the route I took.
But the love of being creative, making things beautiful, and turning a space into a home never left me.
Years later, my husband and I left the DFW Metroplex, bought land in the country with my in-laws, and began designing the dream home we would build together and raise our family in. We had done cosmetic updates to our first house, but building a home from the ground up was an entirely different experience. I learned so much about construction, design, and how the two merge together—and that experience became a pivotal part of leading me back to a first love.
Not long afterward, I helped a friend with his kitchen remodel. He asked me if I had ever thought about doing this professionally and gave me an opportunity to work for his residential construction company.
So, I took the leap and made a career change! I never really thought I would have the opportunity to do something I loved so much as a career, but there I was. Three years later, I decided to part ways as their in-house designer and started Juniper Interior Design.
I was incredibly thankful for the opportunity I had been given and was able to take that experience and expand my horizons—and my offerings—to my community and the surrounding areas. I spent that first year learning the business side of design and expanding my services to professionally incorporate furnishings, décor, wall and window treatments. It has been so fun and incredibly rewarding!
I named my business Juniper Interior Design after our property, which is covered in Ashe juniper trees, and the name pays homage to the place where so many of our own dreams have come to life!
A little more about me
My husband, Duane, and I have been together since 2005 and married since 2009. We also own JF Roofing, LLC—another way in which our family gets to serve homeowners.
I’m a mom to two teenagers, a son and a daughter, and they are my absolute joy. In my spare time, I love being together at our property, spending time with our animals, playing games, reading, or dreaming up our next adventure. We love to travel, and I often find myself gathering design inspiration from the places we visit. I’m also a total foodie and love a great restaurant experience!
But most importantly, my relationship with Jesus Christ is at the center of who I am. My faith means everything to me, and I know I would not be where I am today if it weren’t for God. I have served with the youth in our church for many years, and I’m also a board member of a local nonprofit ministry serving single mothers and their dependent children. It is an honor to serve my community, and both roles hold a very special place in my heart.
Creative + Practical
Because of my background in health science, for many years I had a hard time taking ownership of being a creative. I was led to believe people were either analytical or creative—but I’ve learned that simply isn’t true, we can be both!
God is the ultimate Creator, and being made in His image means we were also meant to create, build, solve problems, and take on challenges. Looking back, I can see how even the parts of my journey that seemed completely unrelated to design helped shape the way I approach my work today.

Having someone alongside you with the experience to help navigate them can lower the stress, increase the joy, and help bring the home you’ve been dreaming of to life.
